COLREGs Online – Scrap the PDF or book

Free and easy to use

If you are studying the COLREGs you will probably have noticed how often you see the same words and phrases. Terms like ‘Risk of collision’, ‘circumstances and conditions’,  ‘action to avoid collision’ crop up over and over again.

To understand a rule in the COLREGs we often have to look up the meaning of words or find other rules that include definitions. The process of moving back and forth between rules is frustrating and slow.

Mapping the COLREGs

The COLREGs are a series of connected statements. The regulations often refer to each other and often need to be read together. Having a clear understanding of how the regulations connect to each other is very important if you want to properly apply the rules.

Our students often want to see the rules mapped out so that they can see these connections and references. That’s why we created an online version of the collision regulations, with quick references and pop-up definitions.
